Nottingham ranks in Financial Times 2012 Top Masters in Finance
25.06.2012, Nottingham University Business School
An FT first for Nottingham University Business School

Nottingham University Business School is celebrating after being picked to join an elite group of business education institutions in the 2012 Financial Times Masters in Finance ranking.

The ranking is published on Monday 18 June in the Financial Times and for the first time places the Business School in the top 35 international programmes in the postgraduate field.

Professor Martin Binks, Dean of Nottingham University Business School said: “We are delighted that our MSc in Finance and Investment has been ranked in the global top 35 by the Financial Times, given the highly competitive nature of this ranking. It is gratifying to see the benefits of our continuing improvement to the overall experience we offer our MSc students.”

The FT ranking, which had its inaugural year last year, surveys alumni who graduated three years ago — in this case, the University’s MSc Finance and Investment students who graduated in 2009.

The ranking takes into account alumni salaries and their assessment of the Masters programme and is intended to give a thorough and independent assessment of pre-experience MSc programmes in Finance and an insight into the schools that teach them and their alumni.

The methodology includes an online survey of staff and student diversity, current MSc Finance and Investment students, and the percentage of students employed three months after graduation.

Nottingham University Business School, which is double accredited by both the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), has an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and research in finance.

Its MSc in Finance and Investment, which enrols around 95 students each year, offers excellent career prospects for alumni — 91 per cent of 2011 graduates were employed within three months of graduating.
