ESMT enrolls record number of participants in Full-time MBA Class of 2010
29.01.2010, ESMT, 18 January 2010
Today, 40 participants began ESMT’s one-year intensive MBA program, which focuses on responsible leadership and sustainable management. This year sees a record enrollment, with an increase in student numbers of 50 percent over 2009. The participants represent 21 nationalities and have an average of six years’ professional experience. ESMT is notably proud that 35 percent of the class is female, showing an increase of five percentage points over 2009, and greater than the international average of 31 percent. ESMT will continue to focus efforts to further boost female enrollment, including providing special scholarships for women.

"This class is an impressive and diverse group of students," said Zoltán Antal-Mokos, ESMT Associate Dean of Degree Programs. "Some have questioned the place of the MBA degree in these uncertain times, but at ESMT, students gain the skills needed for successful leadership that is responsible and sustainable. They learn in a practice-oriented environment from the most international faculty in Germany and through close cooperation with our 25 corporate founders."

The Class of 2010 includes five company-sponsored participants from Airbus manufacturer EADS, E.ON, one of Europe’s leading energy providers, and global steel conglomerate ThyssenKrupp, as well as two Corporate Fellows from insurance giant Allianz and Deutsche Bank, a leading global bank. The Corporate Fellowship Program was introduced in 2009 and includes a full-tuition scholarship, as well as attractive career possibilities at one of ESMT’s founding companies following graduation. This strong corporate support shows that ESMT is indeed the “business school founded by business.”

Lars-Hendrik Röller, President of ESMT, commented, "This significant step forward in enrollment reflects the growing reputation of ESMT. We look forward to building on that growth in 2010."

"ESMT’s close relationship to leading international companies really convinced me,” said Cuong Nguyen, 29-year-old Deutsche Bank Corporate Fellow from Vietnam. “And I can’t wait to get to know the vibrant and exciting city of Berlin better."
